"As a Titus 2 woman, I want to assure you that the most important thing I could teach you is to spend daily time in the Word. Everything else we will cover in this book you would eventually learn on your own simply through your personal time reading your Bible each day."

-- Teri Maxwell in Sweet Journey

Earlier this fall, we found a newly published book that looked good. After diving in, I can say it looks so good, we would like to start using it during our ladies' meetings.

So, we bought a stack, and you can pick one up this week at our ladies' meeting, or on Sunday at Emmaus, if you don't already have it. The books are $10, but you can pay whenever you are able, feel free to pick up a copy as soon as possible.

If you cannot attend the meetings regularly, but would like a copy, please get one from me anyway, as you won't have to pay shipping. It's very suitable for individual use.

The book is called Sweet Journey, and it is kind of a conversational study for women regarding the vital spiritual disciplines of prayer and time in the Word each day. It is narrowly focused on that topic with lots of scripture to make it quite effective.

Here is a note before I give you a link to read about the book: the author is a homeschooling mom (and now also a grandma) of 8 children. Her youngest is about 14 and oldest are in their 30's. So while she has a good amount of Titus 2 encouragement to offer, you will occasionally see references to the things she learned in the life God led her into. However, the content is very applicable to any woman's situation. So whether you are married, single, widowed, you will still gain lots of practical encouragement in this book. I really don't think you will feel excluded by these occasional examples, because the solutions are always in the Word.

Regardless of your season or circumstances, if you are in any situation you which you find challenging and beyond your capabilities, you will find rare encouragement and exhortation to press on in Christ, rather than the common "Oh, don't be so hard on yourself," kind of well-meaning but unhelpful comments.

Even if you are already anchored in these practices for many years, you will find the content encouraging as you have opportunity to minister to other women, or your own sisters, daughters or granddaughters.

For those who try to attend our Friday meetings: Once you get the book, feel free to dive in and work at your own pace. It's designed to be done a chapter a week, with "homework" projects. I have found you can usually get through a chapter in less than 30 minutes.

At our meetings, we will go through one chapter at a time, but please feel free to just keep reading on your own through the holidays and such, as it will surely be a blessing. It is that helpful.

We anticipate there will still be time to discuss other topics in our meetings as we go through the book. We will let the Lord lead, so if there are other needs to discuss or something you want to share in the Word, there should still be time.

Lord willing, we will be going over Chapter 1 at our meeting on Friday, November 18.
