Coming up in September!

I hope everyone is having a great summer and is looking forward to fall and getting together again.

After catching up on everyone's lives, we will probably be looking at a new topic: evaluating advice. How do we recognize good advice from bad? For many of us, having children in the home, we may be wondering about parenting advice in particular. But really, the principles apply in any area of life: marriage, singleness, financial, relational.

In general, a good working principle is that the world's way will always go opposite God's way. This is because, as disciples of Jesus, the directions for nearly every thing we do has:
  • different goals
  • different motivation
  • different authority
  • different priorities
Granted, whether you are a christian or not, you are subject to the law of gravity. But really, if you think about it, Jesus told us from the onset, "Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it." Luke 17:33 Jesus is leading us on a pretty divergent path from the world's wisdom and ways.

In the upcoming weeks prior to our first meeting, see how many examples you can find of this principle in your Bible reading. We also would like to discuss some issues we struggle with and see if we can track how the world's wisdom is different from God's.

We look forward to a fruitful time in God's Word!
